About Rosicraft
Hi there. Thank you for visiting my website!
My name is Jan Laidler. Based at my home in rural County Durham, Rosicraft came into being in October 2025, when I  finally set up as a sole trader to sell resin pieces I had been making as a hobby for several years. It all started when I had the idea of making a keepsake for my son and daughter in law by setting memorabilia from their wedding into resin. Never having done anything like it before, (unless you count making a paperwight from a child's Plasticraft kit back in the 1970s) I embarked upon a huge project, much too ambitious for a beginner! Although it turned out OK, I could do a much better job now but that was when I was bitten by the resin bug.
The business name came from the nickname 'Rosie', given to me by my colleagues when I started my first full time job many years ago, and I thought Rosicraft had a nice ring to it.  I still have a day job, so this is very much a passion project for me at the moment, which I hope I can build upon.
What I love about resin is the endless possibilities. The choice of shapes, colours, effects and inclusions (things set into the resin) are so many and varied, that no two pieces I make are ever exactly the same.
It is fun to make pieces of my own design, but what I love most is making custom pieces to a customer's specification. Whilst that brings with it the burden of responsibility to get it right, the satisfaction of doing so is worth it.
As an animal lover, who knows only too well the heartache of losing a beloved pet, being given the opportunity by my     customers to create a unique keepsake that preserves those precious memories is a very special privilege.
My first foray into selling my work came by trading at local craft markets and country shows, which I still d0                        (see upcoming events. However, it was a natural progression to set up this website to reach a wider customer base and to provide some insight into my little enterprise for those who are interested.
